Of course, all consumers and businesses with 317 numbers will keep their current numbers, but ten-digit dialing will be mandatory in the 317/463 area effective October 15, 2016. There are things you must do to insure your business phone system is set-up correctly in order to avoid any interruption to your organization when the time comes.
After October 15, 2016  new numbers will begin to be assigned the new 463 Area Code.

Six-Month Grace Period

A six-month transition period started on March 19, 2016 to begin to allow local dialing of numbers either with seven or ten digits, to provide plenty of time to adjust to the changes.

During the transition period is the perfect time to make the necessary changes to your telephone system to ensure your organization is prepared and has tested the ten digit dialing in advance.

To make sure your organization is prepared prior to October 15, 2016, contact a local Gibson Teldata Account Executive to schedule a system review.
